Former WBA heavyweight champion David “Hayemaker” Haye will come out of retirement to face Dereck Chisora on Saturday 14th July at Upton Park, West Ham, London. Haye famously brawled with Chisora in February at the Klitschko vs. Chisora post-fight press conference in Munich, Germany. The bout will be sanctioned by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation after Chisora had his boxing license revoked by the British Boxing Board of Control due to his behaviour during the Klitschko fight weekend, where he slapped Vitali Klitschko at weigh-in, spat water in Wladimir Klitschko’s face during the fight announcements and brawled with David Haye.
David Haye retired after losing his WBA Heavyweight title to Wladimir Klitschko via unanimous decision at the Imtech Arena, Altona, Hamburg, Germany in July, 2011. Haye had stated that he would only consider coming out of retirement to fight Vitali Klitschko and had been in negotiations to fight the WBC heavyweight champion before Klitschko agreed to fight Chisora instead.
The former British & Commonwealth Heavyweight champion Chisora’s boxing record is currently at 15-3 with his three losses coming to Tyson Fury, Robert Helenius and Vitali Klitschko. Chisora lost a highly controversial split decision to Robert Helenius for the vacant EBU heavyweight title in Helsinki, Finland. The fight will air live from Upton Park on Frank Warren’s Box Nation subscription channel.
